Shut the Front Door with John McColgan

John McColgan is a multi-award-winning producer and director who started his career in the mid-70s at RTE, going on to become its head of entertainment. He went on to become head of weekend entertainment on TVAM in London.
John is also the director of Riverdance, Heartbeat of Home and numerous other stage and tv productions. With his wife and business partner Moya Doherty, together with Bill Whelan, they created Riverdance, initially as an interval act at the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest, and then just a year later they had produced a full 2-hour show which they launched in Dublin. Riverdance went on to become the global Irish dance-show phenomenon, that we all know, love and are so proud of.

John is also an accomplished photographer and an avid supporter of human rights and became the first Ambassador for Trocaire with whom he produced the acclaimed photography exhibition and TV documentary “This is Palestine”. John has four children, a daughter and three sons, including two sons with Moya. He is also grandfather to his beloved Lola. John, thank you so much for joining us on Shut the Front door.
